Victoria is at the southernmost tip of long Vancouver Island,
about 30 kilometres (20 miles) north of the Olympic mountains
in Washington state. Vancouver island is so large that the
750,000 residents can easily forget that they are living
on an island.
Access to and from Victoria is simple. There are regular
flights to and from Vancouver and Seattle by seaplane, helicopter,
and regional and major airlines. In addition to the BC ferries,
the Coho ferry runs up to four time daily from Victoria
to Port Angeles, WA, and the Anacortes Island ferry runs
from just north of Victoria to Anacortes Island in Washington
state.
